Attractions

The River House is an easy twelve minute country drive on the East Tamar Highway from Launceston CBD. The City offers a varied and enjoyable shopping experience, wonderful dining options, a wide range of beautiful historic buildings, the great Cataract Gorge and the Inveresk and Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, to mention just a few reasons for a city visit. Of course it may be that you will spend this travelling time to get to a favorite football game at Aurora Stadium.

Just a few minutes away is the newly refurbished Windermere Store allowing the purchase of general supplies as well as gourmet provisions and meals. Further on at Windermere jetty is St Mathias Church, one of the oldest consecrated churches in Australia to have held continuous religious services. Travelling on towards George Town is the settlement of Hillwood where you will find a strawberry farm, orchards and wineries to slow you down and provide one more pleasant detour for just one of your out of Launceston tours.
